Custom Pattern Making Course - The Basics

This is a more advanced pattern-making course designed to teach you how to transform your basic patterns and turn them into your own designs.

If you already have your basic skirt, bodice with darts, sleeve and trouser patterns, in this course you will learn the main pattern modifications needed to develop different garments and silhouettes.

You will always work with your own patterns and receive personalised guidance and corrections to achieve precise and well-balanced transformations.

Throughout the course, you will learn how to rotate and eliminate darts, create volume, work on finishes, modify lengths, design cuffs and collars, adapt sleeves, and transform the structure of each basic pattern until you achieve the desired design.

As a final project, you will design your own garment and modify your basic pattern to create it.

An ideal course for those who already have the basics and want to take the next step towards design and creative independence.

If you don't have your own basic patterns yet, you can work with our size 38 basic patterns and follow the course as normal.

11 sessions of 2 hours each (22 hours in total).

Materials
We provide notes, rulers, set squares and essential pattern-making tools.
Students should bring pattern paper and calico/muslin for the prototypes.
